Christian Paranormal?

shade Christian Paranormal?

Okay, maybe I’m naive, but I’d never heard of Christian Paranormal as a genre. I know there is always the fight of good vs evil, but still… “Christian Paranormal”? Having said that… I just read John B. Olson’s book SHADE. It was riveting. I liked the way he wrote. I liked his style. And I loved the plot. It was major good vs evil. However, having said that… I think it would have been just as good a book and just as enjoyable and reached a MUCH broader audience had it not been pinned in by the constraints of “Christian Paranormal”. I say this because most folks I’ve come across are either very turned on or very turned off by anything in the “Christian/Inspirational, etc” where you’re hit over the head by the preacher and his pulpit. But for the most part, this book didn’t smack you in the face with it. It worked — mainly because the characters of importance were homeless and they were created in the way many homeless characters are: talking to themselves, repeating verses from the bible, ranting and talking crazy. But still, for the most part — it worked for this book. There were some parts that frustrated me, like when the story turned to the next main character who was a scientist and IMHO she was pretty wishy-washy. It got annoying at times… did she believe him, did she NOT believe him? Oh… she believes him! No wait.. she doesn’t. Oh look, she sees the weirdness happening with her own eyes… buuuuuut…. she sleeps on it and wakes up realizing she doesn’t believe him. GAH! But that truly was the only real “irritating” part, and the only thing that pulled me out of the fast and furious read. But it was fleeting and I’d get re-absorbed totally in the plot before long. This was a fast read and it held my interest (not an easy thing to do these days). So I’m going to give it a solid B.

Rolling Stone 253x300 On the cover of the Rollin Stone!

Ok, well maybe not Rolling Stone, but I was interviewed!  Check it out:

That was tres cool!

Please check it out if you have time!  Thank you so much.

Okay, now for the important stuff:

OMG did you see this week’s True Blood??  Holy Schmoly!  And only 3 episodes left in the season *cry* I totally thought Franklin was dead, but then.. whoa!  And where was Alcide (my new fave) and the king of Mississippi is CRAZY!!!

Next… Design Star?  Did you see that happening?  I would have thought it would have been between Casey and Michael. Shock.

And last…. The Next Food Network Star… Not a really BIG surprise.  I liked Aarti tho.  She seems sweet.  Tom was awkward and Herb was kind of boring.  IMHO.

All righty.. that about catches us up on the shows I’ve been watching — except for Psych.  I love that show!  I watched it with my DH… Mr. MC Clap Yo Handz (with a Z).

I’m out!

Friday at the keyboard

snoops 229x300 Friday at the keyboard

I got inspired last night and decided to buckle down and get my thoughts on paper… er… screen?  I’d been going back and forth with what I wanted to do with this sequel.  And having never written a sequel, I was kind of lost.  But then while watching Iron Eagle (the original… and for the record, I hate that movie, but it was on and I was too lazy to change the channel).  And no… my story doesn’t include a kid hijacking a F-15 to save his Dad who was shot down over some hostile territory.  Whew.  It had absolutely nothing to do with the movie, but since I don’t like the movie, it was just white noise (and some screamy 80s music) so it let me focus on different ideas. I let them run through my head until finally an inkling of a good idea stuck.  YAY!  Now, I just wish I had some coffee, but… I’m feeling too lazy to go make any.  Sigh.

Okay, that is all. Just wanted to relay the good news… that I was actually being productive on this Friday the 13th!  ;)

This is how I roll, baby!

brit 300x300 This is how I roll, baby!

Ok… so I did NOT put the beans in the pressure cooker last nite for dinner.  I googled (I love that word) and saw that you don’t put pre-soaked beans in the pressure cooker… so I made hamburgers yesterday instead. And they wuz YUM! ( I also love lolcats lingo — you will learn these things about me as I go LOL).  Anyhoo… the crockpot is going as I type. Ta da!  So tonight… we dine on BEANS! (yes… Sparta talk).

Okay, enough about that.

I guess I need to also mention that as much as I enjoy writing and talking about writing, I tend NOT to write about it.  Isnt’ that weird for a writer?  But I figure there are a lot of writers, much better than me, who can “teach” methods and impart knowledge on “the biz”.  So unless I have something earth-shattering to say about it, I most likely won’t talk about it a lot.  I will, however, talk about my progress on my latest book or similar news like that.

I’m more of a rambler.  And a goofball.  So I rarely have a pre-planned agenda.  I’m like the person who gets in the car and just starts driving… and I don’t know where I’m going til I get there! :D   Weeee!

PS: You will also find that I am a horrible typist.  I make oodles o’ typos, but it truly does not mean I can’t spell.  I know… I’m a writer and should always spell properly.  Meh.  Not really seeing that happening on this blog. In my books… you betcha…. on here…. I’m luckyI haven’t reverted bck 2 txt spk.
