What? It's Friday Already?

OMG - I totally can't believe I didn't update my blog since whazzit... Tuesday? Yikes! Well, lessee, what's been keeping me so busy? Hmm, oh well, we had a baby shower for a girl at work who's leaving and it was one of those shower/luncheon thingies where we have to bring a dish, etc. Except that my department didn't get the memo about the "bring a gift because it's also a shower" deal. Anyhoo, I made my made-from-scratch mashed potatoes (to go with the fried chicken someone else was bringing) and it was a huge hit (Bran was pretty po'd at not being able to eat the 'taters, but what can ya do, huh?) Anyway, we ate and then were pretty worthless around the office for the rest of the day seeing as we were all full of comfort food and the girl got lots of goodies for the baby. I went out later that night and bought her a Snugli and a baby bath and we gave it to her from the whole department. Now our souls are cleansed.

What else? I worked downtown today because it's usually my day off and sometimes I'll work at different branches if they need me (and who'm I kidding, the extra $$ is fabulous).

I'm really looking forward to having 2 days off (Sun & Mon). It's been soooo long since I've had 2 days in a row. What'll I do with myself? Hopefully, I can get some writing done. *GAH!!!!!!!*

Hey Leslie! Thanks for explaining the paranormal romance thing. I should've figured Bid Time Return/Somewhere In Time for an example--duh.

As for myself...I don't normally write fanfiction, though I have been known to read it occasionally. The one I just finished is, in fact, the first one I've ever written. It turned out to be a great little exercise for me and got me writing which, as you know, is always good.

I've got two articles I'm working on currently (parenting/advice), and three novels in the works. The one I'm furthest on is a sci-fi, which might make you jump to the conclusion that I write that sort of thing. Actually, I don't. Confused, yet?

Although I consider myself to be a rather creative person, I'm not creative enough for sci-fi. That story is actually based on a time-travel theory that a friend and I have worked on. The story is sort of an offshoot of the theory, but is pretty much the property of said friend. I'm just the writer.

The other two novels are I guess what you would call contemporary fiction, maybe even chick-lit, but I'm not very far on either of them.

Have a good (and hopefully prolific) weekend!
