No Sleep for the Wimpy...

Okay, well, I got 3 hours sleep, but that totally doesn't seem like enough anymore. Gads, I can remember the day(s) when I could stay up all night, hopped up on nicotine and caffeine and go to school/work/party/wherever nooooo problemo. Well, dem days is gone. Me no-can-do anymore. *sigh* Bran got me hooked on the online game experience "Dark Age of Camelot" and I'm all over the place on that thing. Totally addicting and I'm like, "Let's level once more before we call it a night." Too bad that "once more" is just a tease... we wind up leveling up 2 or 3 times after that. Er...is just me and my sleep deprivation, or did that whole sentence have a kinky overtone to it....hmmmm.... But I SWEAR I'm just talking about playing the hack'n'slash game.

What else... not a whole lot to talk about. Some mean people came that I had to deal with at work... rude and cussing and beligerent (sounds like a Law Firm, eh?) but then today I had 2 ppl come in and totally compliment me to my boss. SO that went on my PERMANENT RECORD (yes, kids.. they really DO have a FILE on you entitled your "PERMANENT RECORD" and it follows you around... cReEeEeEeEpy!)

I need a haircut sooo bad. I feel like Jan Brady... she had the bad, frizzy hair on the Brady Bunch. She either pulled it back or let it hang down (parted down the side) but it NEVER looked as good as Marcia's. *sigh* Maybe I should put it in pigtails and go for the Cindy Brady look. Gawd, anything is better than this shaggy mop atop me noggin!

Okay... there is all the boredom that's fit to be shared today. I don't have enough room to talk about the man with Tourette's Syndrome (bless his heart) who came in to work and rooted us all in place when he had to repeat everything he asked three times... a la Porky Pig each and every time. Weeeeee.... I think the mentally challenged picked us as their field trip destination yesterday...

Second Day Off This Month! YIPPEE!

Today is/was my 2nd day off for the month. I'm super happy that I got those days off -- and super DUPER happy I got paid very nicely for all the time I worked (thanks mainly to a co-worker who was on vacation for 2 weeks, so I had to fill in for her). But dayam... I'm tired! I planned on sleeping late, etc.. but I woke up HOT! I HATE waking up hot. Blurry-eyed, I looked around and everything was off, the lights, the TV, the AC.. all things I keep on after the DH leaves for work (mainly b/c I'm too lazy to roll out of bed and shut the light/TV off, but also to drown out the noise from all the noisy neighbors). But anyway, the electricity had gone ka-put while I was sleeping. ARGH! Thanks *AGAIN* to hurricane IVAN. But on a good note, it's rainy and COOL here today so opening the windows helped cool me down. :) The elec. was only off for about 3 hours (of my awake-time anyway).

So on to other things. I hate Webring. I had like a gazillion (or 15) webrings I'd started and run since circa 1998. Well... the email is working fine and all of a sudden, they send me a notice (since I belong to the rings I run -- duh) that 3 of my long-running rings have been arbitrarily put up for adoption! HELLO? So I write them and they send me a note all nuetral-Switzerlandy saying "Oh no, we can't get involved". And I'm like, "Look you nitwits, you started this crap." Then they stopped writing me. I got 2 of the rings back (only because I had to "adopt" them and I guess there was no competition on them). The oldest one I'd run for-e-ver and they gave it to some nobody I'd never even dealt with. That sucks. It's like when the whole the New Generation took over the Enterprise. "I DON'T KNOW YOU!" I just know they'll mistreat my baby... and let every tom-dick-&-harry in. Gah... BTW if you join a ring, please don't join THE RAINY DAY WEB RING -- that was mine and it was snatched away for no reason. *CRY*

Ok, that's the gripe for the day. On to other things. I went and saw SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW yesterday and I really LIKED it! I love all that retro roboto stuff! And Jude Law is a hottie (even tho they colorized him a la the Turner Network did).

I'm actually getting a little writing done. YAHOO! Go me! *cabbage patch dancin'*

The Agony of Da Feet

First day off is tomorrow -- YAHOO! I'm so excited. I've already told everyone in my "circle" not to bother me. I'm sleeping in and bumming around all day. And that's the plan. On a side note, YESTERDAY (Sept 17) I was putting up a book on the top shelf and when I rounded the corner I seriously whacked my right foot on the step stool that was precariously set on the inside corner of the aisle. I never even saw it. Boy, did it hurt. I was wearing my Berkinstocks and my toes jammed into the blasted thing. ARGH! Every curse word I'd ever heard or imagined raced to my mind, but it came out as a garbled yelping mish-mash of crybaby sounds. I limped along the rest of the day... it hurt, but I didn't think much of it. But then, when I was leaving work, I looked down and saw my toe was kind of purpley (is that a word? If not, it should be, because my toe was definitely purpley). Anyway, as the night wore on, it turned all shades of the rainbow. Purple, black, blue, yellow, brown... like a bruise kalediscope... Toe Art if you will. But I digress, today I had to call workman's comp to file the "incident" so they'd have it on file. That was a pain in the keister. The rep called me back on her cell phone and the reception was horrible! I don't know why they can't call me back on a landline -- and her kids were screaming in the background (nothing funner than listening to that..., except maybe breaking my toe).

On a different tangent, Hurricane Ivan came and went thru the Gulf and we had a bunch of evacuees here in the Northern section of Louisiana. I dunno about everyone else, but I'm soooo sick of the hurricanes! Poor Florida and the coastal states. El Nino is NOT playing nice.

I voted today. Woot woot! I rocked the vote. It was only on a couple things, but it's good practice for November, right? :)

I gotta plan my day of leisure now. Let's see, so far on my list is:
1) Sleep
2) Laze around
3) Dress like a slob
4) Take a nap
5) Watch TV
6) Write like I NEED to (pretty iffy on that one)

It's official....

...I'm tired. I mean it. The all-out, fall-on-your-face, drag-your-butt-outta-bed kind of TIRED. GACK! Anyway, haven't updated since the 8th. And that means well, it's just because I'd rather SLEEP when I get home than write. And that includes my actual WRITING for my book. *kick kick kick* I hate that. And I also find I'm reallllly sick of the story I'm writing.

And I notice I'm using a lot of AND's to begin my sentences.

And another thing....

No wait. It was nothing.

I played with shaving cream and food coloring today -- don't ask -- and now my hands are blue and yellow. Wee!

Made a lotta virtual dough on HSX today -- gotta love that. Wish it were REAL moolah. I miss money. I want money. C'mon! Big Money -- NO WHAMMIES! I wish... But then again, that's why I'm working so darn much this month. Right? Yeah, I gotta keep tellin' myself that... indulge me, willya?

Well that's it. I have to call an electrician soon. A big old spark flew out of my breaker box when I turned on the dryer yesterday. Talk about freaking me out! Why can't things just stay together when I don't have money? It's like Murphy and his stupid law live in my house. ARGH! Everything goes KABLOOIE when I have no MA-MOOLIE!

Obviously, I'm tired. And.....
....I'm out!

What was I thinking???

I noticed on my schedule that my next day OFF work is Sept 19... and that's a Sunday. I guess the only reason that's free is because someone else must have signed up for it. Not that I didn't try I'm sure. ACK! Let me reiterate... I'm a freakin' idiot for doing that! And I'm tired! And people are stupid. ARGH! And my dog is loud, chewing caps off plastic bottles behind me.

Wow, what a biiiyotch session! I need to get to writing... but the thought process is over-processed by 9pm.

All I thought about today was how much it would cost to buy only organically grown stuff and eat right. I think it was the Vegetarian Today magazine someone left in the break room that started this whole train of thought. I think it was the recommended daily allowance comparison thingie I saw. It was comparing our (US) Western Diet with what's truly Heart Healthy. Let's see if I can recreate the comparison with a table here:

WESTERN DIETHeart Healthy
FATS & OILS:
35-40% of total caloric intake15% total caloric intake
SUGAR:
35 tsp/dayLess than 10 tsp/day
CHOLESTEROL:
400 mg/dayLess than 50 mg/day
SALT:
12-15 gr/dayLess than 5 gr/day
FIBER:
10 gr/day40 gr/day

So that's got me to thinkin.... and I think that's when I got tired....ZzzZZzzzz

Oh....My.....GAWD.....!

I cannot believe how 2 days off can create so much WORK when it's time to go back. UGH! We were sooo incredibly busy it wasn't even funny. BLEH! And now that Labor Day's come and gone, I'm back on the late, late shift... working til 9pm. So I'm soooo tired when I get home. And it's so dark. And spoOooOoOOOoky. So now I get home and I just vege out to my KINGS... (KING OF QUEENS & KING OF THE HILL reruns). Gotta love that. But other than that, the ol' gray matter is pure malt-o-meal.

I totally enjoyed my 2 days off tho. Even if it wasn't long enough. I loved being lazy and NO, I didn't write one word! ARGH! But I did think about it in my head, and I'm thinking of scratching all the new stuff I'd written (about 15 pgs or so) and going another direction. I hate this story all of a sudden and I SOOOOOO totally loved it when I started it. I guess it's just worn out it's welcome with me. I've had it running around my head for 2 yrs now.

On a good note, I finished Richard Matheson's WHAT DREAMS MAY COME. Such a great book. I read it super slow this time and savored it.

Welp, I'm tired. Off to bed so I can do it all again tomorrow....

Transplanting and Bulldogging

Today was SWEEEEEEEEEEET! I slept late (til around 11:00AM -- how cool is that??) and then proceeded to do pretty much NOTHING important. Although, SAM's and HOME DEPOT and GAMESTOP were all open today (essential stores to be open on a holiday weekend) and Bran got a computer game and I had gulped down two big bottles of water and wouldn't ya know it, *BOOM* it hits me! I GOTTA TINKLE! And right in the middle of the browsing of GameCube games. ARGH! Well, no public toidies there, so we skipped across the parking lot to SAM's (well, I tried to skip but Bran insisted we drive). And after I took care of my (ahem) business there, I went in search of Bran, who was browsing the electronics aisle (I always know where to find him, even in a HUGE warehouse) and I found the best deal on a laser printer ($298). But of course, I'm broke (or the money is earmarked for something frivolous like electricity or car notes, etc), so I didn't get it. But I did put it on my DEAR SANTA BABY list. Oh, I hope he brings it down the chimney to me!

Oh yeah, and then it was Home Depot. Tra la la... I went to the garden center and Bran hit the weedwhacker accessory lane. I had to get some big pots and dirt (and 2 big bags of 3-in-1 compost stuff... it claims to have lots of manure in it. Yummy, huh?). Anyway, I had to replant this confederate rose plant that my stepmother gave to me last year. It had split the pot it was planted in and the roots were barrelling through the dirt. I wondered why the plant was growing so well -- and in the itty bitty pot... Anyway... I transplanted that to a BIG pot (with a generous heap of manure) and transplanted another tree I had that was going to outgrow it's pot soon.

ENOUGH BORING GARDEN TALK!

Then I made a Colorado Bulldog (Kahlua, Milk and a splash of Coke). It was goooood. And diet of course (remember the rule about no calories on holidays).

Welp, there ya have it. I did nothing important today and dad-gummit, it FELT WONDERFUL! I'm hoping to do it again tomorrow.

Holiday..... Celebrate....

Holiday.... Celebrate.... If we took a holiday.... Took some time to celebrate... ThankyouMadonna...

Well, it's true. I have me 2 whole days off. Yippee Skippy! oh me so excited! I'm hoping to WRITE! (pleaseohpleaseohplease).

So what else? I REFUSE to talk about work in today's blog because there were lots of kooky people today who were all waiting to use computers and it almost got to the bare-knuckle-brawling level and I was like "Step away from the desk and come back when you can act like an adult." Yes, these were ALL people over 18 years of age. Sad, ain't it? So whatever, I said I'm not talking about that.

What do I want to talk about today? Oh, well, for one, I HAVE to talk about the hubster's hamburgers. They were deeeeee-lish! He loves to grill and it shows. The burgers were awesome and I made walnut-brownies for dessert. Yummy.... (no calories on holiday weekends, ya know).

Argh... I HAVE to gripe about something I saw at the Burger King the other day. We were waiting at the drive-thru window (for my Jr. Whopper, no cheese and no condiments, thank you) and I looked at the decals on the window. There in BRIGHT WHITE lettering were the words "24-Hour Survillence" and gave an address and phone number. This was the name of the company: 24-Hour Survillence. Now... probably a lot of people just drive thru and get their burgers and fahgettabouttit. But I'm one of THOSE. You know, the ones that just have to say how friggin' STUPID that was to stick this all over the windows of a business before you check your DICTIONARY... yeah, Bubba, them thangs whut heps ya spail werds 'n sitch.. In case my popularity proceeds me and these "24-Hour Survillence" dudes are actually READING this post (or perhaps Dave Letterman is reading it on his show -- AGAIN) pah-leeez let someone proofread your logos in the future. That-a-way, you'd a-know'd it were spelt: surveillance

hey cool.. that was my first rant! Go me. I'm a regular little firebrand. I'm a hellcat, I tell ya!

What? It's Friday Already?

OMG - I totally can't believe I didn't update my blog since whazzit... Tuesday? Yikes! Well, lessee, what's been keeping me so busy? Hmm, oh well, we had a baby shower for a girl at work who's leaving and it was one of those shower/luncheon thingies where we have to bring a dish, etc. Except that my department didn't get the memo about the "bring a gift because it's also a shower" deal. Anyhoo, I made my made-from-scratch mashed potatoes (to go with the fried chicken someone else was bringing) and it was a huge hit (Bran was pretty po'd at not being able to eat the 'taters, but what can ya do, huh?) Anyway, we ate and then were pretty worthless around the office for the rest of the day seeing as we were all full of comfort food and the girl got lots of goodies for the baby. I went out later that night and bought her a Snugli and a baby bath and we gave it to her from the whole department. Now our souls are cleansed.

What else? I worked downtown today because it's usually my day off and sometimes I'll work at different branches if they need me (and who'm I kidding, the extra $$ is fabulous).

I'm really looking forward to having 2 days off (Sun & Mon). It's been soooo long since I've had 2 days in a row. What'll I do with myself? Hopefully, I can get some writing done. *GAH!!!!!!!*
